Evolution of the EM Strasbourg Business School in the main ESC rankings from 2008 to 2009
November 2009
Extract from Géraldine Dauvergne's analysis, chief editor in charge of the rankings: "The only major upheaval is the spectacular rise (up 10 places!) of the EM Strasbourg Business School. This School has improved its performance at all levels, in particular academically".
The School has finally come into its own, explains Michel Kalika, director of EM Strasbourg for 18 months. It had untapped assets when I first arrived, like its international geographical and cultural position, for example. The bilingual courses in English and German, which we implemented at the beginning of the 2009 academic year, enhanced this international aspect. Above all, the school's university status was, strangely enough, not regarded as an asset when I was first appointed, although being a university is an exceptional asset provided it is used in the right way! With this status, I was able to invite the professors who, in other university departments, covered a management-related field, to join us. All I did was mobilise existing potential

Extract from Christine Lagoutte's analysis, chief editor in charge of the rankings:
This year, the award for best improvement goes to EM Strasbourg, with a leap of 7 places up to 15th place in the business grandes écoles rankings. This leap is partly due to the spectacular reinforcement of its faculty staff, which soared from 40 permanent teacher-researchers in 2008 to 90 this year. Since the beginning of the academic year, the Strasbourg school also proposes 100% French-English or French-German bilingual courses from the first year, which reinforces its international image.
