Ecole de Management Strasbourg

Strong and meaningful values

Solid, real-world values
EM Strasbourg Business School trains students eager to break away from the traditional and stereotypical management representations, responsible students committed to key values for future managers: Ethics, Diversity and Sustainable development.
These three values feature strongly in the pedagogy, research, socio-economic influence and actual governance of EM Strasbourg Business School.

Sustainable development: a reality

Sustainable development is one of the School's three strategic values, not only with regard to the future managers trained in exercising their social and environmental responsibilities in all its courses, but also on a daily basis, via specific commitments: internal steering committee, signing of the UN Global Compact support of the B3D Student Association (Bureau du Développement Durable or Sustainable Development Asso ciation); creation of the Sustainable Development chair; Carbon Footprint Assessment report; signing of the "Responsible Campuses" commitment charter; publication of a Sustainable
Development Report; commitment to "The Principles for Responsible Education", etc. Sustainable development currently constitutes a genuine challenge for organisations confronted with social equity, economic efficiency and environmental management issues.

Training responsible and ethical managers

Ethical values are integrated into EM Strasbourg Business School's policy, strategy and practices on a daily basis. EM Strasbourg Business School commits to applying criteria in terms of respect of the human person, the protection of the environment, resources and natural milieu as well as the consideration of cultural and intellectual values.
Specific actions are implemented, for example the installation of a plagiarism detection software within the Digital Working Environment of the University of Strasbourg, with a view to protecting intellectual property. In addition, EM Strasbourg Business School hosted a travelling exhibition, La contrefaçon sans façon, in early 2011, to raise student awareness of the legal and economic dangers of patent infringement. EM Strasbourg Business School was awarded the Qualéthique certification from 2008 to 2011 by the Cercle d'Éthique des Affaires.

Diversity management: difference is an asset

Diversity is both a societal and business management issue, a fundamental value in an increasingly international professional world. It is EM Strasbourg Business School's duty to train and award degrees to students that reflect the diversity of the French population.

EM Strasbourg Business School has therefore decided to include this value in its courses, research and as part of its partnerships with the economic sector. This is why the School has:
  • signed a partnership agreement with the French Association of Diversity Managers (AFMD) (July 2008),
  • created a Diversity Management Chair (January 2009) which involves more than 20 partner companies,
  • developed a research programme and supports doctoral work on all Diversity-related themes (age management, religious beliefs within the company, social diversity, gender equality, etc.)
  • initiated the AFNOR Diversity certification process.

Furthermore, EM Strasbourg Business School has been awarded for its commitment to and its specific actions in favour of this valueby the association Les Marianne de la Diversité.
